The PZ Food Festival 2024

PENZANCE FOOD FESTIVAL, 3 DAYS OF FOOD, DRINK, MUSIC AND ART IN PENZANCE

The first ever Penzance Food Festival will take place on the 13th-15th September from 10am-8pm and promises to deliver a vibrant platform for chefs, food producers, musicians and artists to showcase their craft within the leafy boundaries of Penlee Park, giving visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the creative community of this historic coastal town.

The event is run by three Cornish foodies; Harry James-Mills & Barney Farnworth bring their experience of running the hugely successful Falmouth Food Festival, now into its third year and Oona Burch, a chef and baker, brings her local knowledge of Penzance and all it has to offer. They proudly strive to source all food traders, musicians, artists and even services, from within a 30km radius. This key effort creates a noticeably authentic atmosphere and something that Penzance can really be proud of, attracting locals and visitors alike.

Attendees can expect FREE ENTRY and an exciting schedule over the three days. Alongside a diverse collection of food traders, the main stage will host many exciting bands and musicians. You can also expect demonstrations and talks from some of the best chefs and producers in the county, a jam-packed makers tent, a well-stocked bar PLUS a wine tasting bar hosted by ELIXR Wine.

Event organiser Oona Burch said, “Penzance and West Penwith has long been an inspirational setting for artists and rich in terms of produce from the land and sea. We want to create a platform for the community and visitors to engage with the people that grow, catch, produce and cook their food, and put on a welcoming and entertaining event while we are at it!” We were the first town in the country to be awarded Plastic Free status and that dedication to sustainability has become second nature of many of the town’s businesses. We want to champion seasonality, sustainability and locality and show that it is possible.

Event organiser Harry James-Mills added “We have been overwhelmed by the response to launching the event, it’s something that residents and businesses have been waiting for and we know that they are going to show up and support us. Penzance and Cornwall are overflowing with culinary talent, musical expertise, premium produce and remarkable creatives."

Event organiser Barney Farnworth added “We believe Penzance deserves this food festival, and we’re honoured to be bringing together all of the things that make us proud to be Cornish. Food, music, art and community.”

Sarah Shaw, Penzance BID Manager, said “We are delighted to be working closely with the Penzance Food Festival Team and Penzance Town Council to ensure we have our first Food Festival for Penzance.

Our vision is that this is simply the start and that we can build from the success of our first year to create a definite yearly date in everyone's diary.
We look forward to the Food Festival being embraced by the whole town and hope that as we move into the evenings, Penzance comes alive with live music and laughter coming from all of our night time economy. September has never been so exciting
