The Samling, in the Lake District, have very recently rebuilt their private Jetty on Lake Windermere. Damaged in the storms of 1992, the Jetty was totally rebuilt, and is now ready for boats to dock, and brave swimmers to slip into the Windermere waters for a swim!
The Jetty is private, so you have exclusive access from the hotel into Lake Windermere, where you can take in the dramatic views across the mirror like lake, flanked by the colourful fellside reflecting the many colours of the seasons, from blossom filled meadows to snow capped peaks ( if you’re brave enough to swim in the winter!)
After your swim you can be escorted up the original stones stairs, across to the entrance of The Samling and then driven the short distance up the winding drive to the hotel. Here you can relax in the 65 acres of rolling meadowlands, ornamental water gardens, ancient woodlands and the productive kitchen gardens, maybe take a walk up to The Gathering for a laid back lunch overlooking the lake, or perhaps check into one of the 12 exquisite rooms for a night off the water. Enjoy a cocktail at The Revelry before dinner in The Samling’s much lauded restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere, where Chef Carl Wild creates memorable menus created from the very best seasonal and local produce.
By air, by road, by rail – and now by water too. The Samling looks forward to welcoming all our guests, past and future – however they arrive!
