The Massey Partnership are delighted to be working again with The Gallivant in Camber, one of our favourite coastal escapes on the closest sandy beach to London.

The Gallivant is a coastal hotel opposite the dunes of Camber Sands, recognised as one of Britain’s best beaches. With 20 individually designed bedrooms, from Snug Cabins through to Luxury Garden rooms with roll top baths and private decks opening onto the coastal garden.

The Gallivant is decorated like a luxury beach house, with a calming coastal vibe, wonderful natural light and an atmosphere that invites guests (and their four-legged friends) to kick back and truly relax. Rooms are all recently redecorated and embellished, with bright beautiful headboards, new furnishings and framed vintage swimsuits and prints, a nod to Camber’s glamorous past. Bathrooms – some with roll top baths – have also been revamped, with new exquisite tiling and walk in showers with eco friendly amenities from Bamford Organic for washing the sand away after a day on the beach.

Guests are invited to sink into the Complete Gallivant Experience, from breakfast taken in the light and airy dining room or on the outdoor dining terrace, through to all day elevenses laid out in the cabin room, English wine at 5, dinner from Jamie Guy’s delicious and inspiring menu and We Have Drift Off, a cup of sleepy time tea at bedtime - all included as part of your room rate. Free daily yoga classes, mindful beach walks and stretching classes are also completely complimentary, interspersed with kitchen skills classes, English Wine tastings and Coastal Garden tours which are charged – there is something for everyone to experience.

Chef Jamie creates fresh menus to reflect the seasons, cooked mainly over an open fire. His dishes are unfussy yet exciting and inspiring, using super fresh ingredients, much of which is sourced very locally. They are huge supporters of the English wine industry, surrounded by some of the most exciting wineries in the UK and they believe their English list is one of the largest in the sector with over 30 English wines listed.

The coastal garden is an inspirational, informal garden that has ecology at its heart, planted with the ‘right plants for the place.’ It is very rarely watered yet its drought resistant planting is incredibly beautiful and attracts hundreds of species of butterflies, bees and other wildlife throughout the year.

Nestled in the corner of the coastal garden you will find the small but perfectly formed ‘Beach Hut’ spa, which invites guests to book in for a soothing massage or facial using Bamford Organic products that are also used in all the bathrooms.

The Open Space is the new yoga and wellness studio where most of the daily yoga is taught, it’s full of natural light and lined throughout in calming woods. It is also doubles as a Peloton studio.

The Gallivant now has a large and growing group of Members, giving them special members rates on rooms, food and drink, priority booking, access to exclusive members only events and much more, for a small monthly fee. The Gallivant is a home from home, whether dropping by for a yoga class and coffee, lunch on the private sun deck, overnight escape at the sea or somewhere to work for the day.

Being only an hour from London and just a five minute drive from the quintessentially English town of Rye, with its cobbled streets, eclectic mix of chic boutiques, art galleries and antiques shops, The Gallivant is the ideal exclusive bolthole for those looking for a Hamptons meets California staycation, without the airmiles.
