“I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by; And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking, And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking.”
We are delighted to be representing Sea Fever in Bude, North Cornwall and excited to be working alongside their team to introduce their wonderful dining experience to the media.
Named after the John Masefield poem, Sea Fever in Bude brings together the very best of laid back, welcoming hospitality with the finest Cornish dining. Bude in North Cornwall is an area known for its foodie offering, and Sea Fever sits just a stone's throw from the sands of Summerleaze beach and the fishing boats of the harbour.
As the name suggests, the sea is at the heart of the offering at Sea Fever, with fresh seafood and fish the crowning glory of the menu. Heading up the kitchen is born and bred Cornishman Kyan Hooper, whose passion for his hometown of Bude and the local seasonal produce shines through in his dishes. From Porthilly Oysters, St Ives Smokehouse Salmon, locally caught Mackerel cooked with a tandoor influence, through to the freshest hake, turbot, sole, and – when the weather allows – lobsters caught by Kyan’s uncle in Bude Bay.
The emphasis is firmly on local, seasonal and honest cooking – with the menu changing daily to match the fish landed that day. It is little wonder so many guests return again and again to this hidden gem on the North Cornish coast.
Owned by hotelier Trevor Rounding, Sea Fever is located in the Atlantic House Hotel, a boutique hotel overlooking the coastline. A passionate foodie, Trevor has worked with Kyan for several years to hone and perfect their offering, creating a welcoming destination that is already well known in the local area as one of the finest dining experiences in Cornwall.

Sea Fever Restaurant, moments from Summerleaze Beach in Bude, North Cornwall, has 32 covers with chef Kyan Hooper captaining the kitchen. Born and bred in Cornwall, Kyan started his hospitality career in kitchens around Cornwall as a Junior Chef picking up as much as he could, it is from this initial period that his love for fish and seafood stems. His family ties to the sea continue with the kitchen enjoying fish and the occasional lobster – landed by Kyan’s uncles fishing boat.
Kyan’s started his career in Cornwall before heading to Yorkshire to Judges in Yarm, where he worked under talented John Lyons, and discovered the attention to detail required when cooking to this level. It was a Racasse, Hotel du Vin and award winning Well House that Kyan cemented his passion for using high quality, locally sourced seasonal produce.
Kyan took over the kitchen at Sea Fever in 2019 where he has gone from strength to strength, and is building a reputation for excellent, honest cooking with truly locally sourced produce. From the freshest Porthilly oysters to vegetables grown just fields away from the kitchen, fish landed at Bude harbour and more – Sea Fever brings together the very best of Cornwall for a memorable meal in beautiful surroundings.
