London : March 2024 : The Massey Partnership is delighted to be working with Hope Cove House, the stylish getaway overlooking Inner Hope at Hope Cove, Devon in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Hope Cove was opened in 2019 by Oli and Ra Barker, bringing their blend of inspirational interiors, fabulous food, and a warm welcome to South Devon. With a background in restaurants (Oli was one half of the duo behind London restaurants Terroirs, Soif and Brawn before opening Six Portland Road together with Ra in 2016) he emphasis is on excellent food, simple but welcoming bedrooms, and making the most of the amazing coastal location.
With nine bedrooms including two small family rooms for three and four, a pair of twin rooms and five doubles, Hope Cove House is a home from home where many guests return again and again. The rooms are unfussy and stylish, decorated with fine white cotton sheets, pale walls, juxtaposed with colourful art and soft Jaipur quilts. Fresh flowers, Aesop amenities, vintage mirrors and stylish prints grace the rooms, all of which have views across the beach to Bolt Tail.
The restaurant is a destination in its own right, and has a solid reputation for its fantastic dishes, with a no frills, unpretentious menu full of locally caught seafood and seasonal produce. Lunch time service is open to non-residents, but dinner is for guests only. With 24 covers, the restaurant offers a succinct menu which changes regularly depending on the day’s catch, and the season’s bounty, and a wine list that has been thoughtfully curated to ensure the perfect accompaniment, leaning towards natural and biodynamic wines from small producers across Italy and France.
In the summer, the terrace, which overlooks the Cove, is a popular spot to enjoy a morning coffee, lunch or perhaps a sundowner as the sun meets the sea. The communal sitting room is brimming with eclectic prints and artwork, with deep sofas around a log burner, ideal for hunkering down on a rainy day or enjoying the weekend papers.
Ra Barker said, “We like to think of staying at Hope Cove House as being like a wonderful welcoming house party. The combination of an unbeatable location with a beach just moments from our gate, a relaxing atmosphere with great food and comfortable rooms results in guests returning year after year, like old friends visiting for a break by the sea.”
The house can be booked for exclusive hire, and is the ideal location for a multigenerational getaways, wellness retreats, small celebration and more, a series of retreats will be introduced later in the season.
Hope Cove House also welcomes small well-behaved dogs and has several dog friendly bedrooms.
Hope Cove was recently cited by The Sunday Times as one of the ‘Coolest Postcodes to Move To’, and with good reason. The picturesque coastal village is the ideal destination for a beachside break, from wild swimming, kayaking, sailing, SUP and more. With coastal paths traversing the bay, Hope Cove is just 5 miles from Salcombe (ideal for an afternoon’s crabbing on the sea wall), Totnes and Dartmouth just a short drive away - but many guests opt to stay in Inner Hope and sink into the warm hospitality at Hope Cove House.
