Gieves & Hawkes presents a collection that considers the challenge of elevated summer dressing for business or play, with a refined elegance at its heart; a Gentleman’s wardrobe of rarefied essentials, exceptional tailoring and masculine investment pieces.
Taking cues from the English Season which begins with the world famous Chelsea Flower Show held in London in May each year, the seasonal colour palette of saturated shades of pistachio, pomegranate, raspberry, duck egg blue and cornflower is set against masculine neutrals navy, grey and khaki. Tailoring is as ever at the heart of the collection and this season’s formal suiting in linen and wool fabrics bring a freshness and simplicity to business dress, favouring a two button, single breasted construction.
Bringing the formality down a notch, a patch-pocket double top-stitch suit is shown over a t-shirt and will be available as separates. Off-duty looks feature exclusive prints in the form of a hand drawn and coloured floral pattern against a pale daffodil yellow ground, and a lantern print inspired by society portraitist John Singer Sargent’s 1885-6 painting Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose, which is in the collection at TATE Britain. A new shape travel blazer in a technical wool is presented with indigo denim jeans and sneakers. A garment-washed cotton blazer in a pale khaki suggests a tailored response to a more off-duty look as does a cotton-linen Made-in-London blouson which is presented with shorts.
