Following the success of Buddha-Bar Beach’s first Maldivian appearance at the resort for the 2017 festive season, the world-famous restaurant concept will once again grace Villingili Island from 1st November 2018 – 31st January 2019
Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives has announced the return of Buddha-Bar Beach, one of the most recognised restaurant brands across the globe. Excitingly, the much-loved Buddha-Bar will take residence along the sparkling shores at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa for three months.
The first Buddha-Bar opened in Paris in 1996 headed up by Raymond Visan, whose vision was to connect the eastern and western civilizations through an exotic fusion of culinary values. Once launched, it soon became the venue of choice for the city’s beau monde, firmly cementing its position on the capital’s social scene. Since then, Buddha-Bar has impressively grown on a global scale and become one of the world’s most successful restaurant brands with outposts in over a dozen destinations worldwide including Dubai, Marrakech, Monte Carlo and Manila, as well as opening its al fresco lifestyle concept, Buddha-Bar Beach, in Mykonos, Santorini, Abu Dhabi, Mazagan, Mauritius and Baku.
Known for its pulsating energy and unforgettable atmosphere, which attracts a sophisticated set of A-list celebrities, Buddha-Bar Beach will take over Dr Ali’s Restaurant at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, where guests can taste Mediterranean and Asian fusion cuisine – from Buddha-Bar Worldwide’s Chef Zuzumo’s tantalising menu, whilst enjoying the tranquil views of the Indian Ocean. The menu has been specifically designed to add a social element to the dining experience with a sharing menu of small plates, ideal for families and groups of friends alike.
In addition, guests can experience the bar’s mixology corner headed by Buddha-Bar Worldwide’s Executive Bar Chef, Matthias Giroud, who has concocted a unique cocktail list infused with fresh ingredients from the resort’s Chef’s Garden to complement the food offering. Set to become a jet set favourite, Buddha-Bar Beach, will also launch a late night hot spot at the Endheri Pool Bar complete with Veuve Clicquot Beach Cabanas. This al-fresco setting will offer signature food and drinks set against the backdrop of Villingili’s pristine white beaches and turquoise waters. Guests will also be able to experience the subtle blend of house and lounge music that Buddha-Bar is famed for at both pop-up venues with Buddha-Bar DJ and Music Producer, Talilo.
Commenting on the joint venture, Nabil Souhail, Buddha-Bar’s Vice President of business development & operations for the Middle East, Africa and Asia, said:
“We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa, bringing guests the second in what is hoped to be a series of Maldivian Buddha-Bar Beach pop-ups on the shores of this island paradise.
