Tradition and luxury come together this festive season at Niyama Private Islands Maldives, creating a Christmas break like no other. With a huge range of activities to ignite the festive spirit, including Niyama’s renowned Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, a Christmas market at the beach and a BBQ on the big day, Niyama promises all that a conventional Christmas brings and more.
The run up to Christmas is made even more magical here, with a Christmas market held at Tribal beach, complete with steaming mugs of mulled wine, eggnog and other festive treats, alongside live music from carol singers and a band. On the 23rd December, Christmas officially arrives at Niyama, with the resort’s annual switch on of the Christmas tree lights, to be enjoyed with family, friends and cocktails.
There are plenty more gourmet delights to be enjoyed during the festive season at Niyama such as a Seafood Buffet, with freshly caught local seafood served on platters of ice, and a Christmas Gala Dinner at Blu, overlooking endless white sand and blue ocean. An exclusive Gastronomic Dinner will also be held, welcoming a selection of guest chefs including owner of acclaimed MaSa restaurant in Paris, Hervé Rodriguez, and sixth-generation butcher, Alexandre Polmard, serving the world’s most expensive steaks. Here, guests will enjoy a bespoke menu, featuring the luxurious Perigord black truffle, paired with fine wines. On Christmas Day, guests can embrace a more Maldivian-style celebration with a delicious BBQ lunch and pool party at Dune beach, followed by a buffet dinner of tantalising festive goodies under the stars.
New Year’s Eve celebrations brings a night with the stars, with performers flying in from around the world. Magician, Laura London, of ITV’s “The Next Great Magician” will work the crowd, while the Spark! theatre troupe will take to the stage with dazzling light, sound and movement. Electric performances from Salsa band, Salsa Con Soul and Salsa dance group, Swing Latino, recently returned from their tour with Jennifer Lopez can also be enjoyed. Guests can then countdown to midnight, enjoy a spectacular firework display and dance on the beach until sunrise, the perfect way to see in the New Year.
The celebrations carry on right the way into January with Maldivian Nights at Epicure, fit with authentic cuisine and Boduberu or “music of the Maldives” shows and an Explorer’s Kids Club Party held at Blu for the little ones, with this year’s theme being Underwater and Ocean Characters.
The superb team at the Explorers Kids Club are on hand to help out, allowing adults to enjoy some much needed “me time” after all the festivities at the calming DRIFT spa.
